DC Poonch reviews implementation of ICDS, Education & Social Welfare Schemes

POONCH, SEPTEMBER 10: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the implementation and progress of the government schemes of ICDS, Education and Social Welfare Departments. The meeting was held in the Conference Hall of the DC Complex.

The Deputy Commissioner conducted a scheme-wise review of key initiatives including pensions under ISSS & NSAP, pre-matric and post-matric scholarships, minority scholarships, nutrition programmes, PMAY, Mahila Shakti Kendra, One Stop Centre, State Marriage Assistance Scheme and a wide array of schemes under ICDS and Education sectors such as SAMAGRA, KGBVs, hostels and school infrastructure.

Programme Officer ICDS, Khalid Hussain Wafa provided detailed update on ICDS schemes including the Supplementary Nutrition Programme, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, POSHAN Abhiyan, Aadhaar enrollment and status of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs). He also briefed on anaemia control, recruitment status of Sanginis, Sahyikas and the availability of toilets, water and electricity in government schools. The DC emphasized the need to provide nutritious food to all eligible children.

Assessing the education sector initiatives, the DC asked for immediate assessment and listing of schools lacking basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, electricity and instructed for timely resolution.

District Social Welfare Officer Khalil Ahmed Banday informed that all eligible beneficiaries under ISSS and NSAP are receiving pension and gave a detailed briefing on post-matric scholarships for ST students. The DC stressed achieving 100% scholarship coverage for all eligible students across the district.

Chief Education Officer Mukhtar Ahmed presented updates on SAMAGRA, District Capex works, KGBV school status and fund utilization etc.

The DC sought explanations for the delay in construction of girls’ hostels, asking for submission of tender dates and reasons for delay. He also directed for the formulation of DPRs for KGBV School Buildings where land has been identified.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, PO ICDS, CPO, ACD, Chief Education Officer, DSWO, Hqr. Assistant to DC, AD FCS & CA, along with CDPOs, ZEO s and TSWOs.
