Anti-Narcotics Drive: Youth Held With Banned Tablets at Surankote

Poonch, 03 December 2025:
District Police Poonch, continuing its intensified campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse, today apprehended one individual and seized a quantity of banned psychotropic tablets during a special naka operation.

Acting on specific information, Police Station Surankote laid a special naka near Faza-Abad Bridge. During checking and frisking, a pedestrian was signalled to stop. On conducting his personal search, police recovered 5 strips of Tramadol tablets (50 tablets) and 1 strip of Zerodol-PT (Tramadol) containing 10 tablets, all falling under banned psychotropic substances.

The individual was identified as Sohail Ahmed S/O Abdul Majid R/O Kallar Kattal, Tehsil Surankote, District Poonch. He was taken into custody on the spot. In this connection, FIR No. 271/2025 U/S 8/20/21 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Surankote.

Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the forward and backward linkages, identify the source of procurement, and expose any network involved in the illegal supply of narcotics. District Police Poonch reiterates its firm resolve to act against drug peddlers and safeguard the youth from the drug menace.
