Drug Peddler Arrested; Banned Tramadol Tablets Recovered by Police
Poonch, November 6, 2025:
Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the district, Police Station Surankote achieved a major success by arresting a drug peddler and recovering a large quantity of banned psychotropic tablets from his possession.
Acting on specific information, a special naka was established by the police near Mirza Morh, Surankote. During checking and frisking, one suspicious person was intercepted, and upon personal search, 17 strips (170 tablets) of Gurdil (Tramadol) and 75 tablets of banned Tependaol were recovered from his possession.
In this connection, Case FIR No. 252/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Surankote, and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward links of the drug network involved in the supply of these contraband substances.
District Police Poonch reiterates its commitment to fight against drug trafficking and appeals to the general public to cooperate with police by sharing information about drug-related activities to help build a drug-free society.
